Buy them a gift from Photojojo!!!

My boyfriend is a photographer and I always have issues finding him cute and quirky little gifts that pertain to his craft. After searching and searching one night with my eyes darn near bleeding, I came across www.photojojo.com!

23 year old mom and student, Krystle Bailey, decided to make a change immediately after giving birth to her beautiful daughter. Being overweight her entire life, Krystle finally had the motivation to make a change…for good…FOREVER. Now after being on the Weight Watchers program for a little over a year, along with becoming much more active, Krystle has lost about 80 pounds to date. Krystle’s story and willpower is remarkable, as she inspires others with her frequent updates and posts on her social networking sites, as well as her blog titled “Skinny Jeans Dreams” (how CUTE is that?!) Well this dream of skinny jeans is no longer a dream….it has become a reality.

How much have you lost so far?

As of last Saturday I have lost 80.8lbs. I began this particular journey in a size 20 jeans however my biggest size ever was a size 22. I am now in a size 8.

What is your weight loss goal?

Originally I thought I wanted to lose 50lbs. That turned into wanting to lose 100lbs. Now my goal is to lose 100 but if I get to 90 or 95 and feel that I am satisfied with where I’m at then I will stop and maintain my weight at that point. Likewise, if I get to 100 and feel I still could stand to lose 5 more then my new goal will be 105. My goal is to be 100% comfortable in my own skin and have a clean bill of health.

How are you losing the weight?

I follow Weight Watchers and have become 1,000 times more active than I have ever been.

What made you choose Weight Watchers?

I knew that Weight Watchers worked because I had lost a significant amount of weight on it before and have also watched my mom and many others have success with the program. I started out trying to do it on my own and knew that I needed the structure that Weight Watchers provides while still having the freedom that Weight Watchers allows. Now, I am totally an unpaid spokesperson for the program. haha. But notice I call it a “program” and not a “diet”. Diets put you in a box. Weight Watchers teaches you how to change your lifestyle for the long run, which is why I feel so strongly about the program. I never feel that I am put in a box or restricted from anything. I eat pizza once a week!

What made you make such a lifestyle change?

I have been heavy my entire life and I could talk for days about the emotions that go along with being the “fattest girl in school” and the heaviest among my friends for so long. The day I gave birth to my daughter I knew that I would do anything in my power to make sure my daughter never had to experience those things and I knew that teaching her how to live a healthy lifestyle began with me. I had to lead by example. Not only that but I wanted to be able to run around on the playground with her and keep up with her as she got older. Now I love dancing around the living room with her without feeling tired or out of breath. It makes this entire journey worth it.

What keeps you motivated to keep marching towards your goal?

So many things keep me motivated. First and foremost, obviously my daughter. She’s 15 months now and in the monkey-see, monkey-do stage so I love to see her try to do jumping jacks or her yoga poses. haha. Family and friends keep me motivated! I have unintentionally built myself a fan base, for lack of a better term. My friends and family wait every week to see how my weigh ins went and continuously cheer me on and lift me up. My boyfriend is my number one fan. It’s so rewarding hearing him tell me that he is proud of me and loves the fact that I am conquering my goals. Finally, my blog readers (www.skinny-jeans-dreams.blogspot.com) and my Weight Watchers family. Weight Watchers provides an online community that I believe has been key to my success this time around. The weekly meetings are great but having people there day in and day out going through the same struggles and the same triumphs that I am has been an incredible experience. I have made some awesome friends through the Weight Watchers community.

Describe your typical exercise routine and meals for a day.

Well, right now I am out on a back injury and undergoing chiropractic treatment unfortunately. I should be back to working out by next week, God willing! But when I am working out, I don’t have a specific routine. I do whatever makes me happy for that given day. Some of my favorite workouts are Turbo Fire, Kettlebell routines, walking or jogging on the boardwalk, and any class I can get into at the gym with my sister in law, Tamara. My favorites are Turbo Kick and PiYo so far but I haven’t tried all the classes and I am always open for new experiences. As far as eating goes, that varies also. I follow my given PointsPlus value for that day and try to keep things interesting. Typically I eat eggs and egg whites, turkey bacon, gluten free waffles, or oatmeal for breakfast and always with a piece of fruit. Lunch is usually a sandwich of some sort, Boca burgers or Boca chicken, or leftover dinner. Dinner is such a wide variety of foods. My favorite thing to cook, and I have 1,000 different ways to cook it, is eggplant. I use the website www.skinnytaste.com almost every night for a new recipe. I also drink at least 100oz of water per day, get in all my fruits and veggies, dairy servings, whole grains, daily vitamin, and healthy oils, all of which have played a large role in my success.

Aside from being able to purchase a whole new wardrobe because of your brand new body, what else would you like to accomplish due to your new look and new insight on a healthier lifestyle?

Yes, buying a new wardrobe has been awesome! When I started out I never would have imagined that my goals would be anything more than to lose some weight. Over the past year I have grown a passion for helping others. Now, my ultimate goal is to become a Weight Watchers leader. Accomplishing this goal would not only solidify this journey as a successful one but it will give me the opportunity to help guide others on their weight loss adventures as well as keep me focused and motivated to keep the weight off because reaching goal weight is just the beginning of a new journey - the challenge to keep the weight off. I also dream to open a center for young girls where they can come and learn about self esteem, self image, and self confidence and just learn to love themselves for who they are while also learning the importance of healthy living and staying active.

How do you feel when others tell you that they are inspired by your story?

It’s such a surreal feeling. I’ve been hearing this for several months now and even still when someone tells me that I am an inspiration, my instant thought is “They can’t be talking about me! I’m just…ME!” It’s really hard to even put into words what it feels like. My mom told me about a guy who lost over 100lbs who said “It took me a year to lose the weight physically and 10 years to lose it mentally.” I can relate to that statement 1,000%. I am honored to be an inspiration to others. Hey, maybe this is my true purpose in life!

What advice do you have to those who want to lose weight, but never find the strength or willpower to just do it?

Do it for YOU. If you’re doing it for anyone else besides yourself, you will not succeed long term. Don’t do it for the attention of a man or woman or because your family tells you you need to lose weight, do it because you truly want to change your life and when you put your mind to it, there is nothing in this world that can stop you. Be your own coach. Most of us can’t afford to have Jillian Michaels in our living room so we have to push ourselves. If you’re not giving your all, you’re not cheating anybody but yourself. Nothing worth having comes without hard work and dedication. The day I decided I wanted to lose weight my boyfriend told me “There’s nothing to it but to do it!” - so I did it. You can too.

http://news.yahoo.com/l-word-actress-says-kiss-brief-modest-230529556.html

Take a look at this article that I came across on Yahoo!. The openly lesbian band, Uh Huh Her (that I had the pleasure of seeing in concert here in Philly….and they were AWESOME btw) were on a flight on Southwest airlines and they shared a “modest kiss” according to band member Leesha Hailey, also remembered as Alice Piasecki from the L-Word. Southwest, however claimed that their affection was “excessive” and that other passengers were complaining. The flight attendant then told the band that Southwest is a “family airline”.

The ladies then got upset, and verbally aggressive leading to them being escorted off of the plane.

Check out the link above for more details on the issue.

I personally feel that the flight attendant was extremely out of line, and that Leisha and Camilla had EVERY right to get angry, especially since he/she said that it was a “FAMILY AIRLINE”. What the hell did they mean by that?!

Just goes to show that gay rights will always be a fight and it is up to everyone that are strong believers in equality to take a stand for such injustice.

How do you feel about this? Post your comments below!

"Failure is success if we learn from it."

““Failure is success if we learn from it.””

-
- Malcolm Forbes

Last night was the cocktail and runway event for Philly Fashion Week at the Kimmel Center. I ran into alot of my friends, and ended up having a great night!

There were alot of amazing folks at the event, and I got to network with alot of new faces. The runway show was great as well. My stupid camera died convieniently once the show began, wahhhh! But between my phone and my bf’s phone, I was able to get some good photos of me and my friends :)

I did, however, get to have my own little personal photoshoot before I left the house ;)

WHAT I WORE:

I REALLY wanted to rock my bag, so I just worked everything else around the bag. I hate being boring, so I didn’t want to wear a black or mundane colored dress. I have this new secret obsession (shhh!) with royal blue! And I just LOVE it with RED…..so I paired the blue dress with the bag and shoes….and it worked! Then the panther on my bag became the inspiration LOL so I threw on my favorite leopard bangle and my snakeskin printed glasses (which we will get to in a moment) for some animalistic hotness. Instead of my usual bold lip, I kept it pretty neutral that night. I wanted my outfit to do the talking.

Dress: Forever 21 !!! I love ANYTHING with a bodycon fit. Sucks everything in and makes you look super snatched! And at $13.50 (which I got for free because I had a gift car from last Christmas, LOL), I just HAD to have it….and NEED to go back to get more colors!!!

Shoes: Guess

Bag: Vintage (won on a Goodwill auction at www.shopgoodwill.com)

Head scarf is OLD from a hair store LOL!

Doorknockers: Hot Topic

My favorite bangle, from my girl Tamara, of course makes it daily appearance LOL

LET’S TALK ABOUT MY GLASSES!

These glasses are a total conversation piece. Whenever I wear them, people just go bonkers and ask me where I got them from. My friends always get mad when I spill the T and tell folks, but I don’t care! Why not share the love?! Even if I am standing next to a person with the same exact outfit as me, from head to toe, we are going to be rocking it 2 completely different ways, as we are 2 completely different people! So why not share?!

I got them from Giant Vintage. This site is amazing because they have TONS of clear lens glasses as well as sunglasses, and some are vintage and some are vintage reproductions. I believe mine are reproductions. Alot of 80s babies go NUTS when they see these because these glasses remind them of Laura Biagiotti’s!!!

CLEARLY, I am obsessed with these glasses haha. (photos by Jasen Hudson)

I also wanted to show you guys my ring. It is an heirloom, and belonged to my grandmother’s aunt, who was kind of like a great grandmother to me. She died when I was very young, but I do remember her. She was an impeccably stylish and beautiful woman, and some of her jewelry was passed down to me. This ring always gets alot of attention, as the detail of it is completely unique. They just don’t make jewelry like this anymore. I am very proud to own this ring.

Off to the Kimmel!

You guys remember her, dont you?! Miss Sheshelaghost was in attendance looking fab as always! <3

These two lovelies are some of Philadelphia’s finest. In the middle is Jovi, a kick ass DJ and sneaker connoisseur, shoe game is ALWAYS on! Hit up Jovi if you ever need a kick ass female DJ on the east coast! On the end is Miss Shavonne Deann. She is an amazing fashion designer here in Philadelphia. She’s put on some amazing showcases featuring her line. Check out her stuff! www.ShavonneDeann.com I ended up spending the rest of my night with these ladies and engaging in a much needed and inspirational conversation. Its great to link up with other artists and chat about your trades. Every now and then you need that extra boost to keep you going.

The lovely Bri :) Bri is another awesome makeup artist here in Philly. She did the makeup for the models for the fashion show. Bri and I also work for the same makeup company. She is one of the realest chicks I know and I love her to death! <3

This here is my girl Lorna. She has amazing style, and is a fashion student. I advise everyone to watch out for her, as she has an amazing drive and great ideas to take the fashion world by storm!!! <3

I had a great night seeing and catching up with old friends, and meeting new friends. My girl, Sheila, is a stylist, and was working a few shows at New York Fashion Week and invited me to come out! I totally needed this day. It’s been a while since I have been in NYC for leisure, as I used to be there ALL THE TIME. New York City is such a spectacle to me. It’s like as soon as I inhale that New York air, I get a high that I just cannot explain.

I got the chance to meet some amazing new people, and make some cool contacts. As soon as I got out of the cab I took to Lincoln Center, people began taking my photo. From professional photographers, to people just walking around with their cell phones, it was such a weird experience that everyone wanted a photo of or with me…..but I LIVED for it!!!

My girl, Sheila was already waiting for me outside, so we can make our way to where the action is!!

Isn’t she just awesome?! Not only is she an amazing stylist, but she makes jewelry and made the pieces she is wearing in the photo above!!! Hit her up for some custom jewelry! She.Stylist@gmail.com

Love this photo…..I absolutely loved the fountain :)

Time to go inside!!

Had to take a photo by the sign haha. I brought my vintage suitcase that I purchased from Circle Thrift here in Philly (for $5), to lug my crap around the city that day. I will take better photos of it, but its green and its huge and awesome. The previous owner left their luggage tag inside of it and they used to fly on Pan-Am !!

There was this cool little lounge area inside, with these awesome books that displayed fashions from the 30s up until now. Pretty cool!

This here is a Mi Piaci clutch. This clutch is the first clutch made of 24k gold! Pretty crazy if you ask me…

The orange stitching and sides were pretty cool.

I’m more of a Beemer girl, but these bad boys were beautiful!!!

Hey Sheila!!!

What I’m wearing: Vintage scarf and earrings from Circle Thrift, Men’s button up from Express, Harem Pants from Joyce Leslie, Shoes (which were cut off in this photo) were by Dollhouse, and my awesome bangle was a gift from my homegirl Tamara. I wear this bangle to DEATH!!!

We got to see the tail end of Nanette Lepore’s show, but my dumb self forgot to take photos. Her line was so vibrant and fun and the live band that she had playing made everything so much more exciting!!!!

Me and Sheshe waiting for the next move!

Nomia Presentation!

I liked the use of neutrals mixed with the powder blue. I really enjoyed the cranberry coloured pieces as well. And of course I loved the makeup! It was all about the skin, with white blocked shadow on the eyes.

This Asian model was just sickening! I wanted to bring her back to Philly with me!!!!

Those cheekbones!!!!

I look silly, LOL. Loved this sign though.

After that, we decided to leave and head to the next location, Cvlt (Cult) Studios, where Sheila had to work on Angelina Mata’s offsite NYFW show.

But before that…..we had to grab some GRUB!!!! Saw a Chipotle, and ran for it!!!

Yummy burritoooo

Stank face, LOL. Food is GAWN!

Since I had some time to kill before the show began, I decided to take a walk around the city by my lonesome. While I was walking, the amazing Jasmin aka Vintage Vandalizm called me to let me know she was on her way to work and to come see her! She works at an AWESOME antiques and props shop named Billy’s.

This place was soooo great, with tons of vintage jewelry, props, clothing, furniture, you name it!!! I was also so happy to have met Jasmin in person for the first time! While I was there, I snagged 3 vintage pieces.

Some cute black and gold clip ons, a cameo necklace that is also a brooch, and a sweater pin/guard. Love <3

This old exam chair caught my eye. Had to have been from the 40s or 50s….sooo cool!

After running my mouth for a few hours it was time to head to the show!!

Angelina Mata’s collection reminded me of like Aztec warrior princesses, combined with ethereal nymphs, all with a modern and urban twist, lol. It was really great, and fascinating. I LOVED the hair and makeup.

This model just would not stop posing for me LOL….giving me LIFE!! Look at that pink flower dress in the back! LOVE!

love love love.

After the show, Sheila and I parted ways and I linked back up with Jasmin. She ended up showing me around Lower East Side, grabbing some DELICIOUS Cuban food, and finally ending the night at Mr. H lounge.

(some random jumped in our photo haha) Meeting Jasmin (in person finally LOL) was one of the highlights of the day. I have never met anyone so focused, REAL, and just genuinely sweet and down to earth like she is. It’s refreshing to meet other ‘no bullshit’ people like myself….not to mention, the girl has STYLE for DAYS!!! Check out her blog RIGHT NOW! www.VintageVandalizm.com

All in all, the day was amazing. I came back to Philly feeling so inspired and refreshed. Needless to say, I will no longer be a stranger to one of my first loves, NEW YORK CITY.

Here is my photo on the Reuters New York Street Style page :) Very exciting!

The attacks on 9/11 is something that you will never forget, and you will always remember where you were when news first hit about the first attack.

I was in my freshman year of high school in English class, and we stopped everything that we were doing to watch TV. It was mind blowing to see that that happened, for I could not believe my eyes.

Where were you when 9/11 happened? If you’re not familiar with the film, Julia Roberts was a prostitute in the film.

Paisley ended up winning the pageant and taking the crown that night, leaving the other parents of the pageant in complete outrage.

To their own defense, Paisley’s mother, Wendy, said (in summary) that the thought crossed her mind that she would be viewed negatively, however since the child is so young, she didn’t know who or what she was dressed as.

Unlike most parents, I have no issue with putting children in pageants. However, I believe Paisley’s mother as well as the judges (by allowing her to win the contest) took it TOO far.

Fellow Mum and Pops, how do you feel about this? Taken too far, or completely acceptable?

Here is a clip of Paisley as Pretty Woman:
